Joe Gavin: Music
The Watchmaker
(Joe Gavin)
December, 2005

Recorded using my 1994 Olson SJ cedar top. This song employs the use of right hand harmonic tapping/slapping. The mutted notes at the begining are meant to simulate the tick, tock sound an old world clock makes as the springs and gears move inside. The Watchmaker is a metaphor for The Creator of the universe. Just as each part of the watch is created and dependent on the other parts to function as intended, so the universe with all it's physical laws has a maker.
